Ever wondered what it's really like to sell everything you own and move to another country?
Watch the Full Interview
In this 7-minute interview with The Travel Collective, hosts April and Cindy sit down with Costa Rica expat and author Nikki Page. She shares her journey, her biggest challenges, and why she wouldn't trade her Costa Rica expat life for anything.
Why Costa Rica?
Costa Rica has earned its reputation as the "rich coast" for good reason. This small Central American country stands out as a leader in sustainable tourism, renewable energy, and environmental protection.
With stunning beaches on both the Pacific and Caribbean coasts, lush rainforests, and a culture that embraces "Pura Vida" (pure life), it's no wonder thousands of expats call it home. Costa Rica protects one-quarter of its wild lands and is home to over half a million species—from tiny insects to majestic creatures like giant anteaters, sloths, and scarlet macaws.
The country powers itself largely through renewable energy sources like wind and hydro, and its farm-to-table restaurant scene rivals any foodie destination in the world.
But as Nikki shares in this interview, living here isn't always easy. The rainy season brings mold, the bugs are real (and big), and adjusting to a new culture takes patience and resilience.
