Mangoes are a great snack and a perfect addition to fruit salads, smoothies, and desserts. This tropical fruit is packed with nutrients and has a delicious flavor. The bright yellow meat brings vibrancy to any plate. Its sweet tropical taste always brings thoughts of warm sunshine and great days.
Mangoes are very common in Costa Rica and are available in a multi-color variety like green, yellow, orange, and red. Most mangoes found in ferias and supermercados are very large. Other varieties found throughout Costa Rica are slightly smaller and are yellow in color. They typically are sweeter and juicier and are our favorite.
One serving of mango contains the TOTAL recommended amount of Vitamin C, and that’s just the beginning! Mangoes offer a multitude of health benefits including weight loss, and cancer prevention. They also aid in digestion, boosts immunity, promote eye health, lower cholesterol and help clear the skin.
Note: Nutrition facts are based on 336 grams. This is about half of a Costa Rica Mango. They are huge compared to the mangoes we used to buy in the states.
