Red & Black Beans - Instant Pot is basically a simple combination of the red bean and black bean recipes. We use this recipe often, as we like the color combination. When using red & black beans on tostadas or in beans and rice the two colors help give the dish a better presentation and appealing to the eye. Oh, and they taste great too!Using the instant pot reduces the cook time and saves on energy while creating perfect been firmness. Red & Black Beans - Instant Pot is another extremely affordable recipe that takes minimal time to cook. In addition, it makes a large amount, which is great! It is always nice to have some ready for another meal or two.

  • 1/2 cup Red Beans
  • 1/2 cup Black Beans
  • 2 Cloves Garlic
  • 1 tbsp Chili Powder (You can also substitute Cumin)
  • 1/2 tbsp Fresh Cilantro minced (7-10 sprigs)
  • 2 Bay Leaves
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper
  • 4 cup Water

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Measure out the beans and rinse of debris, then add to the pot.
  • Mince the garlic and cilantro, then add to the pot.
  • Add the water and all the remaining spices to the pot.

Cook

  • Secure the lid and set to the "Beans" setting.
  • When the timer goes off release the pressure. If you want softer beans, allow the beans to set under presser for an additional 5-8 minutes.
  • Once the pressure is released, drain any excess water.
  • Serve and enjoy.
